Thank you to Rev. Jim Wilson from www.jimwilsonministries.com for sharing this!

‘Twas the Night Before Jesus Came

‘Twas the night before Jesus came and all through the house

Not a creature was praying, not one in the house.

Their Bibles were lain on the shelf without care

In hopes that Jesus would not come there.

The children were dressing to crawl into bed,

Not once ever kneeling or bowing a head.

And mom in her rocker and baby on her lap

Was watching the Late Show while I took a nap.

When out of the East there arose such a clatter,

I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew like a flash

Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash!

When what to my wondering eyes should appear

But angels proclaiming that Jesus was here.

With a light like the sun sending forth a bright ray

I knew in a moment this must be THE DAY!!

The light of His face made me cover my head.

It was Jesus! Returning just like He had said.

And though I possessed worldly wisdom and wealth,

I cried when I saw Him in spite of myself.

In the Book of Life which He had in His hand,

Was written the name of every saved man.

He spoke not a word as He searched for my name;

When He said, “It’s not here,” my head hung in shame.

The people whose names had been written with love

He gathered to take to His Father above.

With those who were ready He rose without a sound

While all the rest were left standing around.

I fell to my knees, but it was too late;

I had waited too long and thus sealed my fate.

I stood and I cried as they rose out of sight;

Oh, if only I had been ready tonight.

In the words of this poem the meaning is clear;

The coming of Jesus is drawing near.

There’s only one life and when comes the last call

We’ll find that the Bible was true after all!!

Friendship On Fire

Friendship On Fire

I had the opportunity to attend the 10th annual SheLovesGod Virtual Women’s Conference this week, hosted by Marnie Pehrson (creator of IdeaMarketers.com).

On Thursday, October 29th, Marnie’s guest was Dr. Linda Miles, author of “Friendship On Fire: Passionate and Intimate Connections for Life” and “All Aboard The Brain Train: Teaching Your Child to Live With Purpose”, just to name a couple of her books.

I was thrilled to hear Dr. Miles (who has been a marriage and family therapist for over 30 years) talk about the frontal lobe of our brain, referring to it as our “God gear”, with the lower part of our brain being labeled our “fear gear” or our “snake brain”.

Dr. Linda Miles discussed some research that has recently been conducted which is suggesting that Alzheimer’s patients can actually benefit and improve by actively following a daily spiritual practice, in order to help heal the damaged cells in their brains which cause the memory loss.

Linda has a knack for explaining how God created us to be different than animals, and you’ll love the tips that she gives for improving the tension and stress in your relationships with your spouse and/or your children.

Here’s my review that I did of the book, at Amazon.com:

Be Blessed From Your Action & Perseverance, October 8, 2009

~ By Susan M. Hampton, C.E.C. (The FEEL N.O.W. Success Coach) – Certified Life Empowerment Coach

As one of 38 contributing authors to the Overcomers, Inc. anthology, I knew in my heart that this book was a special project which would provide many people with hope, courage, and inspiration — I just didn’t have a clue as to how big of an impact these stories could have on others, until I read my first copy I received this past week. Whether you’re dealing with the loss of a loved one, the struggles of a divorce, the trauma of past sexual abuse, the emotions that come from being told you have a fatal disease or illness, the stress of financial difficulties, or just plain fears or obstacles that can be encountered in life, THIS is an inspiring book to read. Each author’s chapter is laid out within 5 or 6 pages, so you can pick it up whenever you wish, and read for as long as you choose to. You’ll find yourself laughing and crying, and making note of your favorite stories that you’ll want to read again. In the introduction, Lynne Klippel tells us we “will find real life tales of remarkable courage, strength, and perseverance…” This reminds me of a couple of verses from the book of James, found in the NIV version of the Holy Bible. James 1:12a says “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial” and James 5:11a states “As you know, we consider blessed those who have persevered.” If you are looking to be encouraged and uplifted, read this book. Once you do, you’ll know in your heart that if you take ACTION to OVERCOME, and PERSEVERE, you too will be blessed!

Experiencing Adversity In Your Life?

When was the last time you experienced adversity in your life?  There are many people who are experiencing adversity nowadays, and they are looking for answers and solutions that will change the outcome of their current situation.  Are you one of those people?

I like to look at adversity as being a situation or circumstance that opposes

one’s interests or desires.  Some people see adversity as an unfortunate event or circumstances, a condition marked by misfortune, or even a catastrophe.

Did you realize that an antonym for the word adversity, is PROSPERITY?  Prosperity is good fortune or can even be described as a successful, flourishing, or thriving condition.

If prosperity is considered to be an opposite condition of adversity, then when we are aligning ourselves with God’s will for us, or even looking at our role in His Divine Plan that He has designed, AND when we are in alignment with His desires for us, then it makes sense that we could flourish and thrive in a successful manner.

Yet if we are NOT aligning our will with God’s will and we are opposing what He has desired for us, then we attract adverse situations into our lives.

God wants to pour His freely given, unmerited favor, love, grace, and blessings upon us, to enhance and beautify our lives.

If you are experiencing something in your life right now, that you feel opposes your interests or desires, OR worse yet, you just feel like you’re in the middle of a catastrophic moment, then do yourself a favor and follow these guidelines:

-Spend some quiet with God (or your Higher Power).

-Ask for clarity and direction, so that you can carry out God’s purpose for you today.

-Focus on what you have a passion for, and think about the possibilities of what you can do with that thing you are passionate about – what you can do to serve God and serve others around you in this world.

When we get out of our “self” and do things for others, it is often one of the best solutions that we can use, to change our adverse feelings and emotions.  Serving others brings us out of the “dumps” and allows us to experience sensations of joy.

May you experience much joy and many blessings today!

Capture Those Positive Feelings And Overcome Your Misfortunes
By Susan M. Hampton

Are you tired of feeling overwhelmed?  Have you found a way to cope with
your adverse situations?  Adversity is sometimes defined as “misfortune”.
Are you feeling a bit unlucky?

Let me ask you this…what are you focusing on?  Are you consumed with
thoughts of lack or feeling down OR are you finding ways to cancel those
negative thoughts that come up, and replace them with positive flowing
thoughts, words, and actions?  Have you found any tools or techniques
to help you transform those negative feelings into positively-charged
emotions?

Many people are starting to learn about the importance of maintaining
positive FEELINGS.  In the past, so many have focused on just maintaining
a positive attitude or being careful with their thoughts and words.  What
about your feelings though?

Next time you have a challenging day, filled with feelings of being
overwhelmed, frustrated, or perhaps just stressed out, do yourself a
favor.  Take the time to think about a really happy and fun time in your
life, that was filled with the feelings you experienced when you achieved
success accompanied with joy and laughter.  You might even find that
you have to go all the way back to your childhood, before you can think
about an incident or experience that really thrilled you.

Then sit with yourself quietly for a few minutes and think about how
you really felt during that happy time.  How does that feel to you?
What was going on during that time, that allowed you to have those
feelings and emotions of joy?  What could you do similar today to
re-create those same feelings?  How willing are you, to do the things
you need to do, to improve those feelings and capture those thrilling
feelings that you experienced in that moment before?

You see, since you have indeed experienced those positive feelings
before, your mind has acted like a shelf in a library of old books,
holding all those feelings from the past, and you can in fact,
experience them again.  All you need to do is take time out to
FEEL those FEELINGS.  Then put them together with those positive
thoughts, words, and actions.  You could even put a little body
movement together with this OR do a little dance.

Does this make you feel silly?  Could it even make you feel like a
child again?  Allow yourself to have fun with this and have a few
laughs.  You deserve to be filled with joy and experience great
times again!  Let the good times roll!

“I am come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
John 10:10b

In this verse of John, Jesus was teaching that He came so that we may have life
– a life filled with the Holy Spirit, if only we allow Him to enter into our hearts.

John 14:20 quotes Jesus saying “On that day you will realize that I am in my
Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.”

AND in John 15:5, Jesus said “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man
remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do
nothing.”

When we look up the word “abundant” in the dictionary, it is shown to mean
“richly supplied; overflowing; plentiful; abounding; oversufficient; more than
adequate”. Would you agree that these words could describe something that
would bear much fruit?

Jesus was teaching that as long as we remain in Him and allow Him to fill our
hearts, we will do awesome things, to the Father’s glory!

When we turn our lives over to the care of God, and let His will be done in our
lives, and then take our action steps to follow where He guides us, He handles
the results for us! His results are always better than we could have imagined!

Many people say that what we focus on is what we get more of – like when
people are studying the Law of Attraction. You know why this is true? Because
God is the one who places thoughts in our heads and His desires in our hearts,
and it gives Him glory to see us reflect those thoughts and desires back to Him!

When we listen to God and let him guide us to take the action steps to fulfill His
will and purpose for us, it brings Him much glory!

If you haven’t already, become familiar with the book of John in the New Testament.
It is filled with the teachings of Jesus – teaching us how to live a fruitful and abundant
life, filled with the Holy Spirit!

I Am The Way

John 14:6-14 (NIV) Holy Bible

6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”

9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. 12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

****************************

Look especially at verses 12 through 14. Jesus was saying that “anyone” who has faith in Him will do what He has been doing. He went on to say that anyone who has faith in Him, will do even greater things than these. He will do whatever we ask in His name, so that He (God’s Son) brings glory to God the Father.

Having FAITH is believing in the truth that does not depend on material evidence. Jesus instructed us to HAVE FAITH (which is believing) and ASK in His name.

Do yourself a favor, and get in the habit of having faith and believing in Jesus, so that you align your will with His will for you. Jesus is in the Father and God the Father is in Him. Since God also made us in His image, He is within us. When we are in alignment with Him and His will for us, it is easier to know what God’s desires are for us.

God loves to hear and see the fruits of His desires for us, reflected back to Him. So next time you ask your heavenly Father for something, remember that what you are asking for is most likely what He wants for you anyway…and He’s the one who placed the thoughts and ideas into your mind, and placed the feelings in your heart.

Now have passion and follow God’s purpose for you BEING here. Take your action steps to demonstrate God’s divine plan in your life today.

I Am The Vine (Song from YouTube)

John 15:5-8 (NIV) from the New Testament of the Holy Bible says:

5 “I am the vine; you are the branches.  If a man remains in me and I in him,
he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.  6 If anyone does
not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such
branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.  7 If you remain in
me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.
8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves
to be my disciples.”

As Jesus taught His disciples about Kingdom Laws, He used parables to give
great examples that would paint a picture in their/our minds, in order to
understand what we need to do, to have a successful (and everlasting) life.

Align your will with God’s will today and focus on Him.  Then focus on what
desires God has for you in your life.  Write down action steps that you can
take to accomplish those desires.  THEN TAKE THAT ACTION!

When we ask God for something, we are reflecting back the desires and wishes
that He placed on our hearts and in our minds.  He WANTS to hear that we
are “getting it”.  It is like beautiful music to God’s ears, when He hears
us ask for those things that are His desires for us.  As long as we remain
in Him, and ask, He will provide!  (It might not be provided in the time
frame we want it to be though.  God always has a perfect plan and perfect
timing.  His plan brings better results than we could imagine!)

I AM that I AM – I am experiencing N.O.W.

I woke up thinking about the phrase “I AM that I AM”. This is the answer in the
Bible, that God gave to Moses, when Moses asked for His name.  The Hebrew version
of this phrase is “Ehyeh asher ehyeh”, which literally often translates to
“I-shall-be that I-shall-be”.

The word “Ehyeh” shows up 43 places in the Old Testament where it is often
translated as “I will be”, like in Exodus 3:12.  The final time that it shows up
in the Old Testament, in Zechariah 8:8, it is most often translated as “I shall be”.

“Ehyeh” comes from the Hebrew idea that God exists within each and every one of us
AND by Himself at the same time.

When I started thinking about the affirmation phrase that God inspired me with —
I am experiencing N.O.W. [New Omnipotent Ways of] God’s constant flow of _________
[fill in the blank with what you are believing for, in the present moment, with
feelings and emotions], and thought about the “I am” part of the phrase, here’s what
I thought.  Whether it’s “I AM”, or “I shall be”, or “I will be”, all of these phrases
describe the state of “being”.  When we are “being”, doesn’t that really describe us
in a spiritual state?

God made us in His image and likeness.  We are a spirit in a physical body.  Jesus said
“I and the Father are one” in John 10:30 (NIV) from the New Testament.

As you are “being” today, contemplate on how magnificent God is, and how He created
you to “be” a unique “being”, different than any other human “being” He created.  Dwell
on His Word, and align your will with His will for You.  Then focus on your desires, as
they are His desires that He placed on your heart and in your mind.  Set up an action
plan and prioritize your steps.  Take action and let God handle the results!  If you
are “being” in alignment with God’s will for you, His desires will come to fruition in
your life, and your results will end up being better than you could have imagined!

What do you think of when you contemplate on the words “New Omnipotent Ways”?  Omnipotent means absolute, almighty, infinite, unlimited….I think you get it.  For me this word describes the qualities of our Almighty Father God, our Creator!

If you focus on experiencing N.O.W. (New Omnipotent Ways), and connect with your positive emotions and feelings at the same time, God will help you attract new, almighty ways of achieving results in your life!

Remember, you are a spiritual being, living in a physical body.  You were made in God’s image.  Your spirit consists of energetic frequencies which resonate at particular levels.  Your thoughts have these energy frequencies as well.  So when you focus on what you want AND you allow yourself to feel the feelings of already having those desires, the frequencies of those thoughts and feelings will be resonating at a particular level or frequency.  These energy frequencies will then attract those similar things that are resonating at the same level.  This is why we get what we focus on!

Also keep in mind that we are one with the Father.  So when we align our will with God’s will, He is the one who places HIS DESIRES on our hearts and in our minds.  We can then believe that our desires are actually God’s desires for us.  If you are aligning your will with God’s will, then there is no reason to feel guilty about going for your dreams and desires!  They are His desires for you anyway!

Do yourself a favor today and focus on what you believe God’s desires are for you, and feel those emotions and feelings you get when you believe that you already have those desires!  God will bring them to you.  Some people say that the “Universe” will bring them to you.  Isn’t God “the Universe” anyway?  He IS the One who created our Universe.  Hopefully many more people will one day be strong and courageous enough to submit to the fact that our awesome Creator and “the Universe” is indeed GOD, our Omnipotent and Almighty Father!
